Wealth Mentors 2 Hour Free Seminar

I had a chance last Saturday to attend a 2 hour free introduction seminar at Concorde Hotel Shah Alam by Wealth Mentors. They are promoting the full seminar by Mirriam MacWilliams. The seminar is to share her knowledge about Options trading. She was not present during the free seminar. Representative from Wealth Mentors conducted it.

From the free seminar, I did learn a few new things although they are related to US Options trading which I'm totally new to. In fact, even Options trading is new to me. I don't think Options is for me since I don't really understand the fundamental. However, there are still new info to be gathered from the experts which hopefully I could apply in my shares investment. Some useful info:

  1. There are 5 stock markets in the USA alone. Basically USA has the biggest stock market in the world. There are plenty of money to be made in this market, if you know the trick of course.
  2. Income derived from investments outside Malaysia is actually tax free. Meaning to say, any investment made overseas are tax free once you bring them into Malaysia. Interesting...
  3. There is a free useful tool to analyze stocks called Stockscouter provided by MSN. If the rating is 8-10, that means its a fundamentally strong company and prices are likely to go up in the short term. Rating of 1-7 means fundamentally weak company and prices are likely to go down in the short term.
  4. The speaker also shared days that you should not trade that applies to the US market such as FOMC announcement, unemployment data announcement and NFP announcement. This is because there is no direction for the market and you can't predict where will the share prices head.
  5. Interestingly with Options, you can make money either when the share prices go up or down. There are 2 types of Options, Call and Put. Call will increase in value when the market rises. Put will increase in value when the market goes down.
  6. The speaker shared 3 steps of Options trading: find a candidate (limit to about 25 counters), determine direction of the market and leverage with stock Options either buying Call or Put.
From what was presented, it does seem that Options trading is pretty straight forward and easy. However, of course there are still a lot to be learnt since even Mirriam course is for 4 days. The full course amounts to more than RM10k. For those interested in Options trading, just go for the free seminar and decide whether the full course fee is worth your money. Options is certainly not for me, at the moment.
